With the weather clearing up the two teams went back and forth at each other in what would be a tremendously played game by both teams. Neither team was able to score in the first half and the game would go into the second half 0 – 0. Each team took turns trying to create the winner goal. NASA looked like they had found the back of the net a two occasions but goalkeeper Anna Davis made three tremendous saves in one sequence and defender Sarah Blakely would stop another on the goal line.
With 13 players on the roster and the team playing its 4th game in two days, fatigue was setting in. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in regulation so the game would head into overtime, 2-5minute periods would be played.
In the first overtime, midfielder Molly Moriarty sent a perfectly and well-timed pass behind the defenders as forward Lauren Fischer ran onto the ball. With the keeper coming off her line to challenge the pass, Fischer calmly took a first time left footed shot and pushed the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Bridge would then play tremendous defense for the remaining minutes in the first overtime and the five minutes in the second overtime to capture the Championship 1-0!
The Bridge finished the tournament 4-0, scoring 7 goals while giving up only 1. In what took a tremendous effort from all 13 girls, they were rewarded with the Championship.
